We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to fill the position of Mineral/Contracts Land Analyst. This position will support the Director of Land and report to the VP, Energy Investments, and be responsible for managing land contracts and mineral/surface leases. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of oil and gas land administration, contract management, and mineral ownership structures. Key Responsibilities
- Setup, input and maintenance of both mineral lease, contract and well files into land system (IFS Qbyte CS Land) and ensure files are up to date and accurate.
- Coordinate the reporting of mineral lease expiries, recommendations and required continuation applications.
- Draft, review and process Independent Operations Notices, Notice of Assignments, Change of Operator, Abandonment Notices, and Right of First Refusals.
- Accurate tracking of contractual commitments and obligations.
- Process monthly Alberta mineral and surface lease rentals.
- Verify and confirm U.S. WI, NRI, NRA, and property tax information related to oil and gas rights.
- Current knowledge or willingness to learn U.S. mineral tenure systems and state-specific courthouse recording requirements (Colorado, North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Texas).
- Preference given to those with experience in reviewing and interpretation of key mineral land contractual agreements such as: Purchase and Sale, Asset Exchange, Farmout, Quit Claim, Working Interest Clarification, and Joint Operating Agreements.
- Contribute to A&D activities including due diligence and title reviews to identify deficiencies.
- Conduct data verification and create, run, and build reports.
- Respond to internal and external queries relating to working interests, lands, royalties, wells, and obligations.
- Update GIS layers and map ad hoc information gathering projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Petroleum Land Administration (or equivalent) and applied experience.
- 3+ years of progressive mineral land administrative experience working within Canada.
- Preference given to those with working knowledge of Oil & Gas Regulations for Colorado, North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Texas and experience with U.S. agreements and assets.
- Strong working knowledge of CAPL Operating Procedures, CAPL Farmout and Royalty Procedure and CAPL Property Transfer Procedure.
- Intermediate to advanced user in MS Excel and MS Word..
- Proficient in the use of IFS Qbyte: CS LAND/Optix, EnergyLink, Pandell Landworks, Enverus, StackDX, ETS.
- Willingness to take on new tasks that may fall outside of current duties.
- Ability to prioritize, take instruction, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and have excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Preference to those with experience in A&D coordination.
